A very important part of Tri-County's program is its Annual Youth Festival, established in 1943. Tri-County Concerts Association organizes one of the area's most prestigious competitions for aspiring young musicians living in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Auditions are open to high-school and middle-school students in a wide variety of instruments, including piano, strings, winds, voice, and ensembles, as well as harp, classical guitar, and percussion. The festival offers talented students an opportunity to audition before and receive critiques from professional judges. Those students deemed outstanding by the judges are given monetary awards; their photos and accomplishments are featured on the Tri-County web site; and they perform before a discriminating audience at the annual winners' recital in late spring.
Check back here in mid-January 2012 for complete information on the 70th Annual Tri-County Concerts Youth Festival, including a down-loadable pre-registration form. Pre-registration forms will also be mailed out to teachers in late January.
Auditions are limited to those students pre-registered by their teachers.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - Teachers' Pre-Registration Deadline
On the pre-registration form, the teacher lists the names and addresses of students approved to audition. Tri-County does not require a repertoire decision at this time — only the names and addresses of the students. Teachers who did not receive a pre-registration form in the mail or who would like an extra copy can click here or on the link near the bottom of this page to download a PDF copy of the form. The form must be postmarked no later than February 1. Tri-County will send out an application form to each student pre-registered by his or her teacher. Auditions are limited to those students pre-registered by their teachers.
Wednesday, March 7, 2012 - Students' Registration Deadline
On the registration form, the student specifies the audition piece he or she will be performing. This form, along with the registration fee, must be postmarked no later than March 7.
